Answers to common questions

What qualifications can I get through RPL?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available for all nationally accredited courses and is a requirement for RTOs to allow students to leverage their existing experience. Students who can demonstrate their experience against the requirements of the training package may apply for RPL. Aimpoint is continually expanding our list of courses, so please contact us if there is a qualification you are seeking that is not currently listed.

The full list of documents will be determined during an initial interview with one of our trainers, however, Defence personnel can expect to need to provide the following types of evidence:

  • PMKEYS Printout of record of service / or CV
  • Course Reports
  • Performance Reports
  • Qualifications or other certificates (accredited or non accredited)
  • Work example such as Admin instruction or joining instruction. Aimpoint has templates and tasks students can use to re-create documents if the clearance level doesn’t allow for it to be shared.

Aimpoint will also get you to complete the following online forms

  • Knowledge Questions (open book multiple choice questionnaire related to the qualification. This aims to demonstrate your understanding of the theory of the course.
  • Third Party Report. This is sent to a third party who can certify that you have carried out activities related to the units we are seeking to provide RPL for.
  • The timeframe for RPL assessment largely depends on the individual and how quickly you can provide our trainers with the required evidence. However, we generally aim to schedule an interview with our trainers within 24 to 48 hours. Once you have submitted your evidence, our trainers will complete the evaluation within another 24 to 48 hours and provide you with a training plan or the outcome of the RPL assessment.
  • If you are awarded full RPL, your certificate will be issued electronically within 24 to 48 hours after enrolment and payment. The printed hard copy will take a little longer and is subject to Australia Post delivery times.

The turnaround time of the RPL process is generally 24 hours.

  • Students will be assigned a trainer who will support you throughout the entire process. Aimpoint also provides a range of additional resources, including our dedicated admin team, an online learning platform with resources and video tutorials, templates, and other tools tailored to your individual needs.
