Are you ready to begin a hands-on trade career working with sheet metal and precision fabrication?

Aimpoint is seeking motivated individuals to join our Sheet Metal Traineeship Program. As a trainee, you will be employed by Aimpoint and placed with one of our respected host employers, gaining real workplace experience while undertaking the MEM31922 Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Sheet Metal Working).
This four-year program offers the chance to develop in-demand skills for secure, lifelong employment in Defence, construction, HVAC, infrastructure, and other fabrication sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn to fabricate, form, cut and weld sheet metal into required shapes and structures
  • Work from technical drawings and CAD files
  • Operate sheet metal tools and machinery (e.g., guillotines, rollers, brakes)
  • Perform precise measuring, marking, and cutting of metal sheets
  • Assemble and install ducting, frames, enclosures and other components
  • Follow Work Health and Safety (WHS) practices and maintain clean workspaces
  • Complete structured theory and practical learning activities

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • A genuine interest in working with sheet metal and tools
  • Strong spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination
  • Willingness to commit to a four-year traineeship
  • Australian Citizenship (required for Defence clearance eligibility)
  • Capacity to pass a pre-employment medical and security checks
  • Reliable work ethic and teamwork skills

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be 17 years or older
  • Must be an Australian citizen
  • Must not already hold a Certificate III or higher in the same field
  • Must be ready to undertake full-time employment and structured training
