Aimpoint is now recruitingTrainee Abrasive Blasters and Paintersto be placed with host employers across South Australia. This traineeship is an incredible opportunity to gain real-world industry experience while completing theMSM30216 Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application— fully funded by Aimpoint.

Over a two-year period, trainees will learn to prepare and protect metal surfaces used in the construction and maintenance of ships, submarines, and Defence infrastructure. Upon successful completion, you’ll be equipped for alifelong trade career in South Australia’s Defence and manufacturing sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in abrasive blasting and surface preparation of steel and other materials
  • Apply protective coatings using industry-standard tools and equipment
  • Follow all Work Health and Safety (WHS) procedures and wear appropriate PPE
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas
  • Work effectively as part of a team in industrial environments
  • Follow detailed instructions and complete practical and theory-based learning activities

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • A genuine interest in hands-on trade work in industrial environments
  • Willingness to commit to a full 2-year traineeship program
  • Australian Citizenship (required for Defence clearance eligibility)
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and background check
  • A positive attitude and a strong work ethic
  • Commitment to learning and achieving nationally recognised qualifications

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be 17 years or older
  • Must be an Australian citizen
  • Must be able to pass Defence clearance checks
  • Must not have completed a Certificate III or higher in the same field
