Aimpoint is seeking motivated individuals to undertake aTraineeship in Welding and Fabrication. As a trainee, you will be employed by Aimpoint and placed with one of our host employers across South Australia, working full-time while completing theMEM31922 Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Welding)over four years.

This qualification is highly regarded across the Defence shipbuilding, mining, energy, and infrastructure sectors. Trainees will be supported every step of the way, with full course fees covered and pathways toward lifelong trade careers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in metal fabrication, cutting, shaping, and assembly tasks
  • Learn and apply various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, arc)
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Follow all Work Health and Safety (WHS) procedures
  • Maintain a clean and organised worksite
  • Undertake both on-the-job and off-the-job learning and assessments

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • A genuine interest in welding, fabrication, or working in a trade
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Commitment to completing a four-year traineeship
  • Australian Citizenship (required for Defence clearance eligibility)
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and security checks
  • Good communication and teamwork skills

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be 17 years or older
  • Must be an Australian citizen
  • Must not already hold a Certificate III or higher in Engineering – Fabrication Trade
  • Must be willing to undertake full-time work and training
